By Horsham U3A Family History Group 1

2010 saw the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War which was then the topic of conversation at the Horsham U3A Family History Group.! meetings.

Many members were born during or shortly after the war so have no personal memories of that event but, even so, they had some stories to relate which had been handed down from parents or other relatives. The comment made time and time again at our meetings was “I wish I’d asked them about that when they were alive” which prompted us to agree that perhaps we should write our memories before it was too late.

Once written, we felt we ought to go one step further and put our writings into a booklet. I volunteered to co-ordinate this project and in so doing have learnt a number of new computer skills, which I’m very pleased about.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy reading our memoirs as much as we have enjoyed writing them.
