Crawley’s Collections Revealed – label an object! (8)

Another object from our collection.

This is a decorative hair comb from a collection donated to us by Ruth Coste. It belonged to her grandmother. Ruth’s brother was Frank Wyatt, who worked at Tilgate Park.

What would you write on a label for this one?

Here are some suggestions from people on our social media pages:

“Beautiful old ornate Tortoise Shell hair comb.”

“Beautiful hair comb, maybe tortoise shell “

“Hair comb it’s survived intact.”

“Perfect for my updo ”

“Secret weapon women used to hide in their hair”

“Was it once part of a magnificent animal?”

Large tortoiseshell decorative hair comb. Flower design around edge.
